Mosel-Saar-Ruwer Region
In our eyes the Middle Mosel is the most dramatic and beautiful of all 13 German wine regions. The majority of the Mosel's steeply sloping vineyards follow a path which starts at Koblenz in the North and snakes its way, in southwesterly direction, to the Roman City of Trier in the south. The very best vineyard sites which lie in-between these two cities produce some of the worlds most highly prized Riesling wines.|When driving through the Mosel valley it seems that vines spring forth from every inch of fertile land. Most sites produce wines that are average at best. However in the right villages you will find some of the greatest white wines made on the planet. Although the number of estates in Germany can be overwhelming, especially in the Mosel-Saar-Ruwer region, it's important to remember that less than 100 years ago wines coming from the famous Mosel growing villages of Wehlen and Bernkastel were the most expensive in the world.
