Planted 100% to Pinot Noir with the following clones: Mairafeld, Aner and the Burgundy clone 773.
Planted 4,800 vines per hectar.
40 hc/ha average over past 5 years.
Average age for the vines is only 6 years.
The bows are trained horizontal with a maximum of (5) eyes per square meter.
In the vineyard every other row has green cover crop, only organic fertilizers are used and very little soil turnover is used.
.53 ha and wholly owned by the Becker Estate i.e. monople, exposure to the south and 30% to 40 % steep.
The original vineyard is two (2) ha and over the years was overgrown with brush and trees. The Becker’s reclaimed .53ha by clearing the land. In the 10th century the Cistercian monks were already making wine with the adjacent castle St.Paul Weissenberg or Ch.de St.Paul pics Wissenbourg.
Chalky stone or rocks, very little top soil with clay. Good water maintenance. Ideally suited for Pinot Noir
Ownership of 1.5 ha all of .7 classified Erste Lage all in Alsace, France
•Site goes back to the 10th century when the Cistercians were making wine exclusively reserved for the Abbots who drank the wines in their chambers (Kammeru) therefore the name Kammerberg.
•South exposure, weathered chalk-chalky marl and lots of clay. Very good water maintenance due to the high proportion of clay. Steepness 10-30 %.
•Planted 100% Pinot Noir with old Swiss and Kaisertuhl clones. 5000 vines/ha with an average age of 40 years. Average yield for the past five years is 40hc/ha. Green cover crop every other row. Only organic fertilizers used.
•Produces Pinot’s of great elegance & finesse
•12 ha, situated 50% in Germany and 50% in Elsass, France. The classic site is Schweigen high above the village with south exposure. Weathered chalk, very deep with good water maintenance.
•Planted to Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Silvaner, Gewürtztraminer, Chardonnay and Pinot Mennier.
•Vines have an average ago of 30 years and for the past five years the average yield has been 50 hc/ha. There are 5000 vines/ha, flat or horizontal with 5-6 eyes/square meter. As with the other Becker sites every second row has green cover crop and only organic fertilizer is used .
