Oberrotweiler Kirchberg

Salwey Estate

Baden, Germany

We originally started working together after meeting Wolfe Salwey at the International European Wein Festival in 1984 (now more popularly known as ProWein). His son Konrad at the time was not even a teenager, but today has developed into a very skilled and talented winemaker. Wolfe also introduced us to the Dr. Heger estate, wines we’ve now imported since the late 1980’s. With a general lack of interest in the German Pinot Noir category, we paused our relationship with Salwey in the late 1990s, but we always kept the door open.

Getting together again with the Salweys was like meeting old friends. We returned to Salwey for a number of reasons. Most importantly, great strides have been made with Pinot Noir at the estate - the combination of Wolf and his son Konrad has proved an impressive one indeed. Additionally, Pinot Noir is reaching a point in Germany (when done correctly) that it can compete with any top example produced in the world today. With our demand continuing to surge for better examples, Salwey will add depth to our growing portfolio of Pinot champions.
